LED Whip Installation Guide
Atlas Whips - LED Whip Installation Guide.
1. Mechanical Mount Installation
If your vehicle lacks factory tabs, you will need aftermarket cage-specific or vehicle-specific mounts.
- Prep the Mount: Insert the 3/8” socket cap screw through the large opening of the LED whip mount, passing it completely through to the smaller opening. 3/8” SOCKET CAP SCREW
- Align and Position: Align the mount bolt with your vehicle’s mounting point or aftermarket tab.
- Secure the Hardware: From the underside of the mounting point, secure the bolt using the flat washer, followed by the split washer, and finally the 3/8” nut. WASHER STACK & NUT
- Torque Down: Tighten the assembly securely using a wrench and hex key to ensure it can handle trail vibrations.
2. Whip Installation
- Seat the Whip: Insert the LED whip firmly into the newly installed whip mount.
- Lock the Security Pin: Insert the security pin through the side of the mount. Ensure the pin completely engages and locks into the machined notch on the bottom of the whip.
- Verify Secure Fit: Pull upward firmly on the whip. It should have zero vertical play, confirming it is fully locked into the base.
3. Controller Placement & Wiring
The multi-color whip controller features two (2) 10-foot wire harnesses to give you plenty of reach to the back of the machine.
- Mount the controller housing as close to the whips as possible.
- Choose a location that protects the unit from direct trail debris, flying objects, and standing water.
⚡ CRITICAL ELECTRICAL CONNECTION STEPS:
Run power and ground lines directly from the vehicle’s 12V source to the controller:
• RED = Positive (+)
• BLACK = Ground (−)
Note: Install a 10-amp inline fuse on the red power wire as close to the 12-volt power source as possible. Install your toggle switch on the power wire between the power source and the controller so you can completely cut power to the system when parked.
4. Harness Connections & Final Check
- Route the 3-contact wire harness from each whip down to the vehicle-side harness connected to the controller.
- Align the internal alignment pins, push the connectors together, and thread the connector nut down tightly to seal the connection against water and dust.
- Secure any excess harness length along your frame rails or roll cage using zip ties, leaving a small amount of slack at the base of the whip for natural movement.
- Final Step: Flip your toggle switch, power on the whip system, and verify proper color and pattern operation before heading out!
